Its Been a Late Bite on Travis

Fishing on Lake Travis is still going strong! This past week I took a few days off from guiding, but not from fishing! I had some family in town and took them out fishing. This report though is from my trip last Saturday night.

I took out a great group of anglers, one of my Instagram follower's Drake booked a trip with his father and friend. (Shameless plug... look up @laketravisfishingguide on Instagram!) We were out targeting Striper again. With the full moon the bite has been a little tricky. I am not finding them in the large schools I was last week. Instead I am finding them in small groups or on their own.

We caught one right as the sun went down, but then we sat for several hours waiting for another bite. Finally when we got a little wind and it got late the bite turned on. We caught several on spoon and on live bait. All of the sudden after sitting for a few hours with no bites, we had three hook ups within 10 minutes.

If I remember correctly we landed 7 fish and hooked up with 11. You know how it is with Striper fishing... you either pull the hook, break the line, or they run with it and just don't get the hook... just part of fishing. Once the bite turned on it was a very fun trip!

If you are looking for a fishing guide in the Austin area give me a call. I specialize in Lake Travis, Lake LBJ, and Lake Bastrop!
