Lake LBJ Report- Dec 17, 2018

Lake LBJ Fishing Guide

Yesterday I got back my boat from Parker Marine in Marble Falls... talk about great service! In 7 days they had my boat back to me with a brand new powerhead! After getting my boat back I made a trip out to Lake LBJ to start breaking in the new powerhead.

Most of my day was spent driving up and down the lake just watching my RPM's. After my first break in hour I decided to let the engine cool down and to fish a little. The pattern for the day was jerk baits and jigs around rockpiles. But not just any rock piles, ones adjacent to deep water with shallow rock nearby. That shallow rock sticking up out of the water is the first thing to warm up and hold heat. It may only be a degree, it won't be significant. But it is enough for those fish to relate too.

I was throwing a custom finesse jig that I pour, paint and tie, in PB&J. I would fish it at about a medium retrieve, once I felt the rocks I would slow down considerably. I wish I would have had more time to fish, since I'm sure I could have re created that pattern all over the lake... I know tons of rock piles out there!

I threw together a couple of videos too. Let me know in the comments if you like them and would like to see more. I suck at editing, but might make a point to try and do more fishing videos and instructional vids.

If you are looking for a fishing guide in Austin to put you on fish, I have a few days open this week before I go out of town for Christmas. I'll be back on the 27th, so any date after that is game! Shoot me a message or book through the site!
